Cadillac ATS - New Competitors BMW 3 Series

American car manufacturers, General Motors (GM) will launch the upcoming Cadillac who appeared as a competitor to the BMW 3 series and still being developed.

The car was given the name of the Cadillac ATS, has the configuration of rear-wheel drive (RWD). The car was approved for development, prior to the bankruptcy of General Motors. GM management said ATS is aimed won the BMW 3 series buyers. Specifically mentioned that the configuration of RWD, car dimensions, size and performance characteristics similar to the 3 series.

Last year, BMW sold 100,910 BMW 3 series models in the United States, increased 11 percent from a year earlier.

Cadillac ATS will be positioned as an entry-level Cadillac model, under the CTS. The car will be redesigned in 2013 or 2014 and grew up in various sizes.

ATS is one part of the Cadillac models are re-created through a process that will take place over the next few years. In addition to ATS, Cadillac will introduce a new large-sized sedan next year, called the XTS. The car is at the front took the platform Buick LaCrosse and several other GM models. All-wheel drive might be standard on the XTS.

The sedan will launch as the first, then after 1 year or more, only followed by two other models. Engine lineup will consist of one V6 engine or possibly turbocharged four-cylinder and All-wheel drive as optional.

ATS was developed on GM's Alpha platform. Before the termination of Pontiac, ATS platform is actually scheduled with Pontiac to create a compact car.
